Electrolysis
Electrolysis is one of the oldest methods of permanent hair removal.
A very fine probe is inserted into the natural opening in the skin (hair follicle) without piercing the skin so this not usually felt. Once the probe is inserted, sodium hydroxide or electricity are delivered to the hair papilla in order to cut off blood supply to the hair follicle and permanently stop hair growth.
THREE METHODS OF ELECTROLYSIS
FOR PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL:
1. Thermolysis applies alternating current to the probe at the base of the hair in order to create heat and destroy the hair follicle. This is the most commonly used method because it is very fast and effective.
2. Blend uses a combination of heat and current to speed up the galvanic chemical reaction to destroy the hair follicle. This method is slightly slower than thermolysis but is very effective and often used to treat difficult areas.
3. Galvanic was the first form of electrolysis and is not often performed currently. It uses direct current to cause a chemical reaction within the body in order to destroy the hair follicle. Galvanic has fallen out of favor because it takes a significantly longer time to work.
Important information prior to Electrolysis........ READ THIS FIRST!!!
. * Shave area to be treated 3-4 days prior to treatment (or longer if the hair grows slowly).
* Drink at least 8 cups of water per day, 2-3 days prior to your treatment & hydrate well 2-3hrs before your treatment.
* No alcohol 24hrs prior as this can dehydrate you * Exfoliate area to be treated at least 24hrs prior. * Sleep well days before
* Moisturise area to be treated morning of treatment and afternoon if treatment later. Follow you usual skin hydration routine. *No vigorous exercise prior
* Take a couple of Panadol and Ibprophen prior as it helps with pain and healing the tissues.

Consultation
20 mins • Electrolysis Consultation Free of charge
A consultation is needed to ensure you're a candidate for Electrolysis. You can book you treatment straight after your consultation so no need to come back another day, although I recommend you take time to consider the pro's and con's of the treatment after your consultation before booking your first session.
This procedure cannot be performed on people with any electrical implants such as: Pacemakers etc... Other contradictions for treatment include:
Blood Thinning Medication
Cochlear implants
Dermographia (Very raised red lines left after the slightest scratching)
Haemophilia
Keloid Scarring (Raised, thick, knotted looking, purplish scarring after trauma to skin)
Pacemaker
Pregnancy (1st Trimester) – Then not below neck
Recent Scar Tissue (in treatment area)
Rosacea [active] (in treatment area)
Skin Diseases/Disorders
Sunburn (in treatment area)

All hair that is showing on the surface of your skin is not ready to be treated succesfully. If you look at the picture to the right you'll see hair in different stages of growth. For electrolysis to work effectively the hair needs to be in "Anagen" stage (growing stage) which means it's in contact with the hair follicle which is where the hair gets it's blood supply to grow. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell from looking at a hair, exactly what stage of growth it's in, which means not every hair treated will be permanently removed. This is why I suggest you shave the area to be treated 3-5 days prior to Electrolysis so it is easier to tell which hairs are growing. This ensures time, money & pain is not wasted on hairs that will grow back. Waxing is another alternative to shaving & is far more effective.
